Oliva Thompson, from Edinburgh, chose the sector because she is “obsessed” with all things weddings and considers it her dream job. Before launching her company, the 24-year-old worked as an administrative assistant and walked puppies during lunchtime.

She returned home in March after seeing Southeast Asia and Australia and decided to combine her love of dogs with weddings.

Olivia told the Daily Star she had always wanted to be a wedding planner but found it difficult to get a position in the business due to her lack of experience.

Olivia accepted a position as an Event Sales Assistant at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh, where she gained experience in weddings. After three weeks, she decided to leave and launch her dog companion business, combining her love of dogs with weddings.

“You could have dogs in the botanical garden.” ‘Who takes care of the dogs?’ He asked me. “I realized that dogs bring me the most joy and I love weddings,” she continued.

When did you start making money?

Olivia has attended four weddings since setting up her business in June and earns around £300 (around Rs 30,000) a day. To supplement her income, she began walking dogs.

He explained that he frequently meets with couples who are preparing to get married before their big day to find out everything he needs to know, see the dog’s behavior and understand his needs.

She went on to say that numerous clients had hired her for photos. Olivia revealed that at one of the weddings she had to go down the aisle with a dog and admitted that she was worried because it was her first wedding and her client wanted her to be part of the ceremony.

“So far, all the dogs have been well behaved. I’m looking forward to the day when they aren’t,” he said. Olivia has reservations until 2026 and enjoys visiting the different sites and seeing the brides in her wedding dresses.

Olivia and her electrician partner Conor just welcomed Ginny, a 10-week-old Hungarian Vizsla dog, into their home. She has thought about including Ginny as a ring bearer alongside the bridesmaid or maid of honor on her wedding day when the time comes.
