Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin could be quietly inflaming the wave of anti-Israel protests sweeping the United States.
The Democratic congresswoman from California, noting that she has had anti-Israel protesters outside her house “all the time,” drew attention to how Putin has endorsed calls for a ceasefire similar to many of the protesters.
“Make no mistake, this is directly related to what he would like to see,” Pelosi told CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“I think some of these protesters are spontaneous, organic and sincere. Some, I think, are related to Russia,” she stated. “I think some funding should be investigated.”
But the 83-year-old politician downplayed the risks to President Biden in the general election, stating that many of the young people participating in them still care about LGBTQ issues, preserving the planet and gun control.
“We are going to have a message of values for our country and we are going to have the resources to do the job,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pelosi also supported Biden when he backed a compromise Senate border security package. Despite hoping for broader immigration reforms, such as a path to citizenship and protections for Dreamers, he argued that the agreement is a step in the right direction.
“This legislation is a compromise. “It is a negotiation,” she said. “Not everyone does everything their own way. And this is really important.”

At one point, CNN anchor Dana Bash pressed the Golden State Democrat about a mistake in which former President Donald Trump confused her with Republican rival Nikki Haley.
Pelosi largely avoided the question about Trump’s mental cognitive abilities. Both Trump and President Biden’s allies have traded barbs about the two men’s acumen.
“Anyone can be confused by a name. Seven times is a lot. But the fact is that he was lying about the fact that he would not send the National Guard to the Capitol,” Pelosi responded, drawing attention to Trump’s comments about the January 6, 2021 riots.

Trump had said at a rally in New Hampshire that “Nikki Haley was in charge of security” during the time of the riot. She was not.
When pressed further about Trump’s mental faculties, Pelosi again demurred and stayed quiet on policy disagreements.
At 81 years old, Biden is the oldest president in US history and would be 86 years old at the end of a possible second term.
Trump, 77, would be over 81 when he serves a possible second term.
