A Connecticut farm worker was paralyzed from the waist down after his family said he was attacked by a bull “in heat.”
Randy Jaquins, 59, “was in the wrong place at the wrong time” Friday when a bull charged at him as he was leading several cows back to a barn after milking them.
“The bull was in heat because it’s his mating season this time of year,” Jaquins’ sister, Ellen Hull, told Hearst Connecticut Media.
“Randy was basically in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Jaquins, of Winsted, Connecticut, suffered a broken neck and is paralyzed from the waist down.
The farmhand told his sister that he was lying in the farmer’s field for “quite a while” before someone found him.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he was left partially paralyzed after doctors fused the vertebrae in his neck.
Hull later visited his brother in the hospital and said he was conscious and able to talk.
“We all hope this is temporary, but we are preparing for the worst,” Hull wrote in a description of his GoFundMe campaign seeking donations for Jaquins’ medical and living expenses.
Bull breeding season begins in spring or early summer, when the animals tend to become territorial and especially aggressive, experts say.
