In a unique gesture, the non-profit organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) celebrated the triumphant landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole of the Moon by sending a vegan cake to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

This recognition act not only commemorated the achievement but also highlighted PETA’s advocacy for ethical and compassionate decisions.
“India is the first country to land on the Moon’s south pole, and vegetarian eating originated in India. Our nation now has the largest population of vegetarians in the world and has seen a staggering 360% increase in the number of vegans in 10 years, so there’s a lot to be proud of,” Monica Chopra, PETA India’s fashion, media and celebrity project manager, said in a statement.
“To celebrate all of this, PETA India was proud to deliver a vegan cake to ISRO today.” she added.
PETA India’s gesture to ISRO is just one of several recent recognitions by prominent organizations for the Chandrayaan-3 achievement.

Google marked the mission’s success with a scribble and mentioned that Chandrayaan-3 confirmed the prediction of ice deposits at the moon’s south pole.
Google’s description describes how the mission began in July 2023 and ended with Vikram the land rover making a successful soft landing on Wednesday night. This event triggered celebrations in various parts of India.
