Plane that came too close to Biden’s Delaware home intercepted by NORAD

A North American Aerospace Defense Command fighter ship and helicopter scrambled to intercept a civilian plane that had flown in restricted airspace over President Biden’s home in Delaware, where he is staying this weekend.

The fighter craft and MH-65 arrived around 2:25 p.m. Saturday and escorted the craft to the ground, NORAD officials told the Delaware News Journal.

The NORAD aircraft fired flares to warn the pilot of the civilian craft, which, although harmless, may have been visible to concerned people on the ground, the advocacy organization said.

The Secret Service said the response was simply “a precaution.”

“Assets were mobilized to intercept and the civilian aircraft landed safely at a nearby airport,” the agency told The Post in a statement.

“There were no impacts to the protectee’s movements as a result of this incident and United States Secret Service agents are investigating in coordination with the FAA,” the Secret Service said.

Biden left the White House for his home in Greenville on Friday.

After the incident, the president was seen attending afternoon mass at St. Joseph’s in the Brandywine Catholic Church.
