Benson began her career as a professional actress on Vera, a popular television series based on the Vera Stanhope series of novels written by Ann Cleeves. She was previously seen in a cameo in Holby City and You Instead (film). In 2014, she starred in the crime drama television series Shetland as Sally Henry.
In 2016, Benson showcased her talents on Game of Thrones in season 6 and appeared in the episode ‘Blood of My Blood’ as Talla Tarly (only daughter of the late Lord Randyll Tarly). In 2017, she starred in The White Princess, a British-American television series. She later went on to be part of television shows such as The Crown, Doctor Who, Flack and Year of the Rabbit.
