What did the study reveal?
According to the survey, requests for AI and AI-related job advertisements on social media for professionals have increased by 11% globally and 5.6% in India.
LinkedIn has introduced a number of AI-powered capabilities to its platform. This includes Recruiter 2024, which automates hiring; LinkedIn Learning’s artificial intelligence-based training; and an Accelerate feature, which uses AI to create an automated B2B marketing experience.
LinkedIn has begun testing a new AI-powered premium experience with a small group of premium subscribers in the United States. This experience allows users to discover hidden opportunities, gain more knowledge on vital topics, and benefit from personalized career actions.
Why is there demand for skilled AI labor?
Skilled AI workforce is in high demand. According to the survey, the growing importance of AI has resulted in greater adoption of technology at work, leading to a greater need for AI skills. Professional services, technology, information and media, and financial services are the industries with the highest demand for workers with AI skills in India.
AI is accelerating workforce learning. Professionals around the world are already investing in AI capabilities, with nearly 80% more users viewing AI-related courses on LinkedIn Learning this quarter.
How is AI accelerating workforce learning?
In India, the skills chosen by students differ across generations, with Generation Z acquiring digital skills such as programming languages, cloud computing and data analysis.
Millennials and Generation X, on the other hand, are investing in soft skills such as leadership and management, personal effectiveness, and personal development.
India’s Generation Z professionals are more interested in learning AI skills than their elders. According to the report, 1.3 times more than Generation X and 2.4 times more than boomers. Compared to other generations, India’s Generation Z spends 73% more time learning on LinkedIn.
What is the future?
Integrating AI into work can pave the way for hybrid jobs. Advances in generative AI have the potential to break down barriers between cultures, continents and sectors.
This can expand the reach of hybrid work environments. Companies are already responding to the desire for flexibility: hybrid job openings in India increased from 13.2% in August 2022 to 20.1% in August 2023, according to the survey.
