Robbie began his career on the television show Play for Today in the year 1979, where he played the role of Jimmie. The following year, he also appeared in films such as Flash Gordon and Death Watch, followed by Subway Rider, where he played the role of a criminal detective.
From the year 1979 to 1999, he played various roles and appeared in many popular shows and movies like Mona Lisa (1986), GoldenEye (1995), Message in a Bottle (1999) and many more.
In 2001, he became popular worldwide with his character Rubeus Hagrid in the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, a fantasy film about magical education, which was directed by Chris Columbus.
