Hailing from Wichita, he wasn’t merely a resident; he actively contributed to the very essence of the community.

Robert achieved remarkable feats during his lifetime. In every endeavor he undertook, his commitment to excellence was evident. He left an indelible mark on Wichita’s business landscape, playing a pivotal role in helping the city he held dear to thrive and prosper. Beyond his professional achievements, Robert was a beacon of light for those fortunate enough to have known him. His warm smile, genuine kindness, and unwavering support had the power to uplift everyone he crossed paths with. His departure has devastated his family and friends, as he was known for his immense kindness and love for everyone.
Whether it was extending a helping hand to a neighbor in need or offering words of encouragement, Robert had a remarkable ability to brighten even the darkest days. Beren, a cherished trustee and benefactor whose generosity and leadership touched various aspects of the university. With over three decades of service as Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Mr. Beren was a dedicated leader and a remarkable philanthropist.
His commitment to both Jewish and secular education was deeply rooted in his own experiences, and he left an enduring impact on numerous institutions through his patronage. His contributions to Yeshiva University were substantial, resulting in the naming of the Robert M. Beren Department of History, the Israel Henry Beren Floor at Cardozo Law School, and the YU Midtown Campus, named after his uncle, Israel Henry Beren.
In recognition of his remarkable contributions, the university bestowed upon him an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree in 1987. Despite his numerous noteworthy achievements, Mr. Beren often highlighted his most significant success: his devoted children. Each of his children has carried forward his legacy as influential leader, and this was a source of immense pride for him.
