Former royal Sarah Ferguson has revealed the beautiful final words Queen Elizabeth II said to her before her death last September.
The queen, who reigned for 70 years at the time of her death, passed away on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96 in Scotland.
The topic came up while Ferguson, 63, was discussing her battle with breast cancer, as she believes the experience has encouraged her to be herself and “wake up”.
“It’s the last thing the queen said to me: ‘Be yourself, Sarah,’” Ferguson recalled during the Aug. 30 episode of her podcast, “Tea Talks With the Duchess & Sarah.”
“And she saw it,” the Duchess of York continued. “She would get very angry when I wasn’t being myself. And that’s probably when I got into all the trouble. But now I am myself and I am very lucky to be able to be myself.”
The Post has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.

It’s unclear exactly when the late monarch said those words to Fergie, but the weekend before her death, the queen was reportedly “full of fun,” according to a clergyman who was with her.
The right-wing Reverend Iain Greenshields, 68, told the Times of London last year that he had dinner on Saturday and then lunch on Sunday with the queen at Balmoral, just four days before his death.
“It was a fantastic visit,” he said. “His memory of her was absolutely amazing and she was really full of fun,” she said of her visit.
“It was a big surprise to me when I found out that she was seriously ill because she was in unbelievably good shape over the weekend… It was only a few days ago, I can’t believe it,” she continued.
King Charles III and his sister Princess Anne were also present at the lunch.

She appeared to have had a difficult relationship with the royal family for years, according to Town & Country, and was not invited to Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011.
But in recent years, her relationship with them has seemed stronger than usual, even though she was still not invited to King Charles’s coronation ceremony last May at Westminster Abbey.
She said she never “expected” to receive an invite and told Hello! Magazine, “You can’t have it both ways, you can’t get divorced and then say, ‘I want this…’ [You’re in] or you’re out. “I think it’s really great to be very supportive.”
In June, the Duchess of York was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer after a routine mammogram, which her sister urged her to have.
She later underwent a mastectomy.
“The duchess is receiving the best medical care and her doctors have told her that the prognosis is good,” reads a statement released by her representative.
