Seattle high school student flagged incorrectly on quiz for saying only women can get pregnant: report

A Seattle high school student received an incorrect grade on a history exam when he claimed that only women can get pregnant, according to a report.

The Chief Sealth International High School 10th-grade student reportedly failed the true-false quiz titled “Understanding Gender vs. Sex” in his Ethnic Studies World History class, his mother told the conservative radio show The Jason Rantz Show on Sunday.

The student rated two statements as “true”: the first that “All men have penises” and the second that “Only women can get pregnant.”

He was marked incorrect on both and as a result failed the “knowledge check” test, said his mother, who asked to remain anonymous so her son would not be penalized.

“I’m still trying to understand how it is legal to teach inaccurate information and force students to answer contrary to their beliefs or receive negative scores,” he told the KTTH radio show.

Other questions on the questionnaire, which was administered about two weeks ago, asked students about pronoun use and gender as a construct, according to the interview schedule.

The mother who said she felt “frustration and anger” about the questionnaire also said her son, who is white, is often reprimanded by teachers at school who have reportedly accused him of being racist and “a product of patriarchy that teaches little children.” not worry about anything,” according to Rantz’s program.

Seattle Public Schools said the quiz was aimed at promoting inclusion and was in line with lessons taught in Ethnic Studies class.

A course description states that students would “investigate…global economy, society, and culture.”

“[Seattle Public Schools] “remains committed to fostering inclusive environments that encourage the exploration of contemporary issues, particularly the examination of systems of power such as racism and patriarchy,” a district spokesperson told The Post in a statement. “This dedication extends to providing a space for thoughtful exploration and dialogue on these issues.”

The district also noted that a failing grade on the exam will not affect the student’s overall grade in the class.

The student’s mother said her son was expressing his own beliefs with his test answers.

She told Rantz’s show that she is “proud of him because he refused to speak out against his beliefs (which are medically and scientifically accurate, or at least they used to be).”
