In an attempt to discover more about her uncanny resemblance, Sartania shared the video on a Facebook group, hoping someone would recognize the mystery woman. Her efforts paid off when a friend of the mystery woman, later identified as Tako Khvitia, the twin, found her post and provided Sartania with her contact details to contact her.

Finally connecting by phone, Sartania was stunned to discover the shocking truth that the woman who looked so much like her was none other than her long-lost twin.

Where did the twins finally meet?

The estranged brothers were finally reunited two years ago on the Rustaveli Bridge, located in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi. After meeting her sister, Sartania said: “When I hugged her, I felt a sense of familiarity. Then the voice; It’s like you already know what voice [she] had.”

Why were the twins separated at birth?

The emotional reunion concluded the sad saga that originated 19 years ago, precisely on June 20, 2002. The day marked the birth of twins, Ano and Tako, to their mother, Aza Shoni, in the small village of Kirtskhi.

Tragically, due to undisclosed birth complications, Aza fell into a coma. Subsequently, her husband, Gocha Gakharia, who already had three children, harbored doubts about the paternity of the twins and made the anguishing decision to illegally sell Ano and Tako to separate families in different regions of Georgia, according to the Republic.

Consequently, Ano grew up in Tbilisi, unaware of his family connection, while his identical counterpart grew up approximately 250 kilometers away, in Zugdidi, a city in western Georgia. They both lived separate lives, completely unaware of each other’s existence.
