In that car accident, Shabaaz was with his wife and hit 6 people, of whom 2 died on the spot. Shabaaz was admitted to KEM hospital under police custody and was later also sent to Arthur Road jail in Mumbai. Shabaaz appointed lawyer Mubin Solkar, a very popular criminal lawyer, who took almost 80 days to prove that Shabaaz was not drunk and that he also did not find any kind of drugs in his blood.
