Later, he was arrested in 1975 when he staged protests after the Bangladesh founder’s assassination.
A few years later he joined the BCS (Judiciary) cadre in 1982. More than a decade later in 1995, he was elected as the general secretary of the Judicial Service Association. In 1996, when Awami League was in power, he served as the coordinator in the Bangabandhu murder case. After this, he served as a District Judge, Additional District and Sessions Judge, and District and Sessions Judge. Serving as a Judge, he retired in the year 2006.
2000 to Present
Following the 2001 general elections, he became the Chairman of the Judicial Inquiry Commission. Its main objective was to investigate matters related to killing, looting, and rape. In addition to this, he was the director of the Prime Minister’s office for a duration of two years. From March 14, 2011, to March 13, 2016, he was working as the Anti-Corruption Commission’s Commissioner.
Besides this, he was the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Islami Bank Bangladesh and an Advisor to NRB Global Bank Limited previously. At present, he is all set to serve his tenure as the 22nd President of Bangladesh.
