During the initial years of his career, he worked as an editor for films like Squad’s Fall Guys, Old Town, and T&Lily. Then he co-conceptualized ‘Downtime’ along with Amitesh Grover and Frank Oberhausser. It was a live installation event that was held across Delhi and Berlin.

In January 2015, Shaunak co-curated ‘Notes of Mourning’, a live performance and video installation along with Arnika Ahldag and Amitesh Grover. In the month of June, he became part of the Copycat Academy Residency at the Luminato Film Festival in Toronto.

His actual career as a filmmaker began in 2016 when Shaunak released his debut feature-length documentary titled “Cities of Sleep”. The film showcased the condition of people who struggle to have a peaceful night’s sleep in Delhi. All That Breathes

Sen’s next and widely recognized feature-length All That Breathe was released at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival on January 21, 2022. It showcases the story of two brothers who work to save Black Kites in Delhi. The film bagged some of the top awards at Sundance and Cannes and is recently nominated for the Oscars.
