The Honduran representative in Miss Universe 2023, Zuheilyn Clemente, wore a spectacular typical costume at the gala of the most important beauty contest in the world.
The design by Sampedrano Danilo García is called “Lenca Craftsman, Catracho Pride”, and is a tribute to the Lenca culture installed in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.
This costume featured peacock feathers and the colors red, blue and yellow, representatives of this pre-Columbian ethnic group settled in Intibucá, La Paz and Lempira.

Behind the magnificent design is Mirna Aguilar, a woman from the Cacao community, Intibucá, in western Honduras.
For the costume, 10 yards of Lenca loom were requested in the colors of the Ara Macao, that is, the Macaw, the National Bird of Honduras.
“The truth is that the suit is total art, my respects to the Cacao community, it is beautiful, congratulations on your talent”; “My respects to the Lenca woman, she has talent and intelligence, she is sorry for the few opportunities” and “God bless her hands,” are some comments.
