Six people waiting in line at a popular California restaurant were injured after a donut van at a nearby intersection hit them, police said.
Terrifying video from Sunday morning captured the moment a white Honda CR-V made a wide turn at a busy intersection in Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles, and crashed into a crowd outside the Black and Blue restaurant, reports KTLA.
Although many of those present managed to avoid the vehicle, six people were run over before the car crashed into a wall in the restaurant’s patio, causing minor damage.
The white van, dragging its front bumper, quickly reversed and fled the scene as crowds and security personnel rushed to help the injured.
Authorities said the six injured suffered only minor injuries and first responders were able to treat them at the scene.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, the police discovered the front license plate of the car, which had fallen off when it crashed into the wall.

With that, officers were able to quickly identify the driver and arrested two women on Magic Mountain Parkway. The women have not been publicly identified.
Following a field sobriety test, both women were arrested on DUI charges and could face more charges as investigators continue their investigation, police said.
Witnesses at the scene stated that the suspect was clearly trying to take control of the street, where people are trying to close an intersection to perform various stunts on their vehicles.

“The driver decided to do some donuts in a white-looking SUV,” a witness told CBS News. “He made a delivery in which he practically did not have much success.
“I guess he did another one and that one really had an impact. Fortunately, it did not hit many people, but many people were run over,” the witness added.
Street takeovers, or “sideshows,” have become a problem in recent years in big cities across the country, where aspiring stunt drivers perform dangerous tricks with their vehicles in the middle of the road.

While the popularity of these types of stunts skyrocketed during the pandemic, when few drivers were out and about, takeovers persist, particularly in Los Angeles, where officials have been tracking such incidents.
The Los Angeles Police Department reported that there were 7,654 such acquisitions in 2021 and about 4,899 in 2022. Statistics for 2023 are not yet available.
