A tiny black bear cub has won the hearts of everyone online after CCTV footage of the animal taking out the rubbish was posted online. The pup was filmed outside David Oppenheimer’s Asheville home in North Carolina, USA.
In the clip, the bear cub stands on its two hind legs and uses its paws to push the trash can out of the driveway and set it aside on the lawn. The bear was probably pulling the container in the hope of finding something to eat. However, as the area experiences frequent visits from these foraging wild animals, the bins have bear-proof stands to keep the animals out.
This became an obstacle in the bear’s hopeful plans, so the animal ended up helping the human family by taking out the garbage. When the bear pulled the container out and tipped it to the side, he probably expected the food to spill out of the container, which it didn’t thanks to the brackets David had installed to prevent spillage in situations like these.
The homeowner shared how these bear visits have been frequent in the area.
David told Metro UK: “Most of the bears around here are quick to pick up on that and don’t bother trying to open it.”
He added: “This year-old bear cub hasn’t figured that out yet, and can be seen in this video walking backwards into the trash can as if preparing to take out the trash.” The homeowner also mentioned that he had seen the cub before with its mother and his brother.
People on the internet were amused by the cub’s innocent actions. One user quipped: “Bear is thinking he hasn’t seen this before, MEALS ON WHEELS.” Another user felt sorry for the little pup, “Aaw sorry for him, at least he deserved some leftovers after all that effort!”
