People are fighting over the right solution to a perplexing puzzle in which they must discover how many times a day the digits of a clock appear in ascending sequence.
The challenge, which was posted on X (formerly Twitter), asks people to estimate how many times a day a 24-hour digital clock would display four digits in sequential order.

It seems simple enough to solve, but no one has come to an agreement on what the answer should be.
“You have a digital clock that displays the time in 24-hour format (00:00 to 23:59),” according to the post published by @quiz_riddles. “How many times a day do all the numbers on the clock appear in strictly increasing order?”
Can you figure out what the correct answer should be? It may seem challenging at first because the question is quite complicated, but once you have figured out what the question is really asking of you, the solution is not that difficult to find.
However, it seems that people online are having a hard time agreeing on a suitable solution.

What is the correct solution if so many people come up with different solutions? Fortunately, user X who posted the puzzle did not provide the correct answer.
However, the most common answer – and the one we consider correct – is three. The question asks for numbers in “strictly increasing order” and offers 01:23 as an example time. This means that apart from 01:23, the only other times of day where this is true are 12:34 and 23:45, resulting in three valid answers.
