Sonal Jha was born on July 29, 1971 in Patna, Bihar, to Nitiranjan Jha and Indurani Jha. She was fourth among six children. She completed her MA in History from Delhi University and traveled abroad to pursue an MA in Corporate Communication from Ithaca College, New York, USA. Sonal is currently based in Mumbai.
Sonal Jha started her acting career as a theater artiste from her childhood and performed as an actress and singer in Patna for 15 years. She also became a member of the Ekjute Theater Group to learn acting, where she was mentored by Nadira Babbar.

Career
After completing his education, he went abroad and returned to Mumbai and realized that acting and theater were his thing. Sonal gave an amazing performance in many TV serials and movies. In 2006, he starred in Nanda Anand’s English film, Return to Rajapur, along with Lynn Collins and Kelli Garner. After the success of that film, he starred in the Hindi television series Bombay Lawyers, which aired on NDTV India.
Finally, Prakash Jha signed her for his Bhojpuri regional in which she played Bahubali’s mother. She became famous as the sensitive and charming Indian soap opera mother while playing Irawati in Balika Vadhu. Her short film Mother and Her Daughter (MAD) bagged the perfect 10th winner at the Mumbai Film Festival. She has acted in several films and television series like Aarakshan, Chillar Party, web series The Test Case and many more.
