Hailing from Vinavamangalam village near Ambur in northern Tamil Nadu, Jaiganesh started his career as a waiter in a modest restaurant in Chennai to meet his basic needs.

Despite possessing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Thanthai Periyar Government Institute of Technology in Vellore, he resorted to various odd jobs to maintain financial stability.

Today we present the incredibly inspiring journey of K. Jaiganesh, who triumphed over numerous obstacles to achieve the prestigious status of an IAS officer.

Rising from a poor background, he secured 156th rank in the Union Public Service Commission civil services examination in 2007, persisting through six failed attempts.

Recognizing the need to move to Chennai to improve his prospects, he got admission into the government-operated All-India Institute for IAS Coaching in Anna Nagar.

Determined to cover monthly expenses, including a bill of Rs 600 and travel expenses, Jaiganesh worked several jobs, as detailed by a leading newspaper.

His path involved stints of employment at Satyam Cinemas, where the rigorous schedule left him with limited time for exam preparation. Later he chose to work in a restaurant, a decision that gave him the essential time to concentrate on his studies. In 2007, after tireless efforts, Jaiganesh triumphed in the civil services examination.

After this achievement, he enrolled in the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Public Administration in Mussourie.

2. Anu Kumari

Let’s delve into the motivating story of Anu Kumari, an IAS officer. Despite being a mother of a small child, she bravely decided to take the UPSC exams.

Her commitment led her to temporarily leave her son behind to prepare, and she achieved notable success by securing second place in the 2017 exam.

Hailing from Sonipat, Haryana, Anu Kumari holds a BSc (Hons) in Physics from Delhi University and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from IMT, Nagpur.

Achieving success did not come to Anu Kumari without effort. In her initial attempt at the UPSC exam, she fell short by just one mark, causing her distress.

However, he maintained his determination and decided to make another attempt. In her second effort, Anu Kumari triumphed, securing All India rank 2 in 2017 and realizing her dream of becoming an IAS officer.

3. Vijay Wardhan

IAS officer Vijay Wardhan’s journey aligns perfectly with the proverb, “Failure is not the opposite of success; it is a part of success.”

Unlike those who might give up after a couple of attempts, Haryana’s Vijay Wardhan persevered despite numerous setbacks. Facing failure in 35 different contests, he refused to succumb to despair. Instead, he saw each rejection as an opportunity to learn from his mistakes.

Contrary to being demotivated, the continuous challenges fueled his determination and he finally managed to crack the UPSC.

Initially selected as an IPS officer in UPSC CSE, he is currently undergoing training to become an IAS officer.

Originally from Sirsa, Haryana, Wardhan completed his studies in his hometown and earned a bachelor’s degree in technology. in Electronic Engineering from Hisar.

After completing his engineering degree, Vijay Wardhan moved to Delhi to prepare for UPSC. Throughout his preparation, he took 30 competitive exams including Haryana PCS, UPPSC, SSC and CGL, but faced disappointment as success eluded him in all of them.

Despite the setbacks, he refused to give up. In 2014, Wardhan attempted the UPSC exam for the first time but failed.

Undeterred, he made four consecutive attempts, each of which ended in failure. Finally, in 2018, his unwavering dedication paid off when he managed to crack the UPSC, achieving an All India Rank (AIR) of 104 and becoming an IPS officer.

However, not content with his IPS position, Vijay Wardhan re-took the UPSC test, achieving the rank of IAS in 2021.
