Stray dog from Varanasi receives passport and visa for the Netherlands and will leave India with a Dutch woman

Stray dogs in India, often referred to as “mutt dogs” or “community dogs”, are canines that live without a specific owner or in a domestic environment. These dogs roam freely in urban and rural areas, often forming loosely knit communities.

Some are wild, while others may have some interactions with humans who feed or care for them.

Jaya, a stray dog from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, is ready to fly out of the country with a legitimate passport and visa, along with her new Dutch owner.

Meral Bontenbel, an Amsterdam resident who took care of Jaya, told ANI on Thursday that she had always wanted to bring home a pet and fell head over heels in love with the Varanasi stray dog during a visit to the temple city.

What is your plan for the Indian stray dog?

“I went to Varanasi because I wanted to explore the city.” Jaya approached us one day when we were wandering aimlessly (along with her traveling companions). She was incredibly sweet and I fell in love with her. She walked us out after I hugged her. She started following us. “One day she was attacked by another dog on the street,” Bontenbel recalls.

He went on to say that a security guard moved forward to save Jaya from the other mestizo’s control. “A guard came forward to save her. At first he had no intention of adopting her. He just wanted to get her off the streets,” Bontelbel explained to ANI.

When does the dog fly away?

He also claimed that he needed to extend his stay in India by six months to obtain a passport and visa for his beloved Jaya. “I’m so happy to finally be able to bring her with me. It was a long process. I had to wait six months for her to get to this point.” I always wanted a dog and I fell in love with her. “I fell in love with her the first time she approached me,” she added.

How is the adoption of stray dogs going in India?

Street adoption is increasing in India and many people are supporting #adoptdontshop. Adopting stray dogs not only provides loving homes for these animals but also helps control the stray dog population. It’s a positive trend that promotes compassion and responsible pet ownership.

Many organizations and individuals are working to raise awareness about the benefits of adopting stray dogs and the importance of spaying and neutering them to reduce the number of stray dogs. This not only benefits the dogs but also the communities in which they live.
