Susan Maxwell was a resident of the village of Cornhill-on-Tweed where she was living with her family. Her village is near the border between England and Scotland. On July 30, 1982, Robert Black abducted 7 years old Susan when she was walking home from a game of tennis in the Scottish town of Coldstream. Serial killer Robert Black was serving 12 life sentences in prison where he suffered a heart attack in 2016. But he could not survive the heart attack and passed away. After his death, Susan’s parents Liz and Fordyce Maxwell stated, “It’s a great relief to know that he will never be released from prison. He has been fortunate enough to die of natural causes, which is more than he deserved. All his innocent victims, including our beloved daughter Susan, died in horrific and terrifying circumstances. She was a half-mile away from her home when she disappeared in 1982. She was first time walking home by herself. She was found later dumped in the undergrowth. Susan was gagged and sexually assaulted by the kidnapper. The serial killer kept Susan in van for 24 hours before dumping her body. The kidnapper is said to have delivered items across Scotland with Susan’s body in his van. He went to London and dumped Susan’s body. Later two other schoolgirls were also found sexually assaulted and murdered, Sarah Harper and Caroline Hogg. Robert Black is now dead. He died in 2016 in prison when he suffered a cardiac arrest.
