Swaroopa Ghosh was born on April 12, 1962 in West Bengal, India. Her father Ati Ranjan and her mother Aruna Das, who is a writer. Swaroopa made her debut in the film industry with the romantic comedy Vicky Donor, where she played the role of Pishi Aunty in 2012. She later appeared in several films such as Vara: A Blessing (2013), Monsoon Baby (2014), NH-8: Camino to Nidhivan (2015), Piku (2015), Ghawre Bairey Aaj (2019), Shantilal O Projapoti Rohoshyo (2019) and many more.
Swaroopa landed the lead role of Sherna Patel (Defence Minister) in the action thriller film War, starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in 2019. In 2022, she appeared in the Netflix web series Scoop alongside Karishma Tanna, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub and Inayat Sood etc.
