Texas Gov. Greg Abbott defiantly vowed Sunday to expand the controversial razor-wire fence his state erected along the border, days after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Biden administration could tear it down.
Joined by 13 other Republican governors who offered resources and troops to the effort, Abbott said fencing and water barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border have helped eliminate nearly all illegal crossings at Shelby Park in embattled Eagle. Shelby Park specifically was plagued by illegal immigration until Abbott suddenly took control of the area, a move criticized by Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas.

Lee, who serves as chairman of the Republican Governors Association, said Biden’s border policies have failed Texas and the rest of the nation, which has seen an influx of illegal migration since the president was elected.
“Each of us understands the devastating effects that border policy has had on each of our states individually, and we are here together to work collaboratively to support Texas,” Lee said. “This experiment in an open border policy has failed the United States catastrophically.”
The group of Republican governors promised to support Texas and provide resources and troops to secure the border and install barriers, and Abbott reiterated that was his only course of action due to Biden’s alleged inaction.
