Yes, that’s his real name. Barbie’s real name is Barbara, and Barbara’s husband’s father is J. Robert Oppenheimer’s third cousin, hence her last name. According to the Independent, she is a former Boston University professor and grandmother of five and currently resides in Newton, Massachusetts.
He recently spoke to Slate about his experience of the current summer of ‘Barbenheimer’ as someone with a name unintentionally connected to the topic.
She told the outlet: “That weekend, college friends texted me from all over the world when [the films] came out, with all that nonsense, you know… ‘the bomb and the bombshell’.”
It’s pretty funny! The fact that they released them together was smart. Attendance at movie theaters increased significantly. Barbara remembers seeing Oppenheimer in theaters on opening weekend to see “how they treated his [J.Robert] “, and then watched the Barbie movie two weeks later. He noted that they both enjoyed the movies “in different ways.”
When asked which of the two films he prefers, he couldn’t answer.
Barbara’s response when asked which movie she preferred was, “I can’t choose. I’m glad I got to see both.” She is a fan of both films and plans to watch them again. She even wears a t-shirt with the famous meme.
“Next week I will go with a group of women and we will all wear pink. I will wear my Barbenheimer t-shirt,” she continued. In addition to her bond with Oppenheimer, Barbara revealed that she was a Barbie devotee; she had a Ken, Skipper and Midge doll, and had received it for her sixth birthday.
Others seem to have a hard time believing Barbara’s name because Barbenheimer has been seen everywhere this summer, making checking into motels a fascinating experience. I said, “Barbie Oppenheimer!” when I checked into the hotel while on vacation. “Are you kidding me?” the man asked.
