On Monday, Pava LaPere, a 26-year-old technology CEO in the United States, was found dead in her apartment with head injuries. She co-founded EcoMap Technologies.
The Baltimore Police Department is investigating his murder and searching for a 32-year-old suspect named Jason Dean Billingsley.
Police received a call around 11:30 a.m. Monday and found Pava LaPere with serious head injuries at her apartment complex. Police have not released any further details about her death.
The medical examiner’s office examined his body and the investigation continues.
Officials are seeking Jason Dean Billingsley for first-degree murder, assault, reckless endangerment and more.
Police warn he should be considered armed and dangerous.
“This individual will kill and rape. He will do anything to cause harm,” Acting Police Commissioner Richard Worley warned during a news conference.
EcoMap Technologies, the technology company co-founded by LaPere, confirmed his death in a statement.
They described it as an “unimaginable tragedy” and expressed their deep anguish at the circumstances surrounding his death.
The company added that Ms. LaPere was the visionary behind EcoMap and a compassionate and dedicated leader in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).
“Her tireless commitment to our company, to Baltimore, to amplifying critical ecosystem work across the country, and to building a deeply inclusive culture as a leader, friend, and partner, set a standard for leadership, and her legacy will endure. through the work we continue to do,” EcoMap said.
CNN reported that Ms. LaPere earned a spot on Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list for social impact in the current year due to the achievements of her new company. In August, her company announced that she had secured nearly $8 million in financing.
