The recent tragedy of the OceanGate submersible has shaken people to the core. The Titan Sub was part of an excursion that took passengers on an expedition to search for the wreck of the Titanic. However, this time the submarine failed to make it back to shore as the news that all five passengers had lost their lives reached audiences around the world.

While the search mission was still underway, it came to light that the missing Titan submarine was being operated with an older Logitech video game controller that the kids use at home.

Logitech’s F710 gamepad was originally designed for PC gaming and is priced at $30 (in India, it retails for Rs 4,269). The affordable controller is used in the expensive submersible, which is estimated to cost more than $250,000 (over Rs 2 Crore).

While Logitech continues to sell the F710 Wireless Gamepad, which launched in 2010, in a similar price range online, it’s suspected that the device was clearly not designed to meet the exacting standards required for a professional submersible controller.

Trolls not only leave bad reviews, but also add a fun twist to the hit. The dark humor of the reviews left by such comments can be unsettling for many, but also entertaining for Twitter users. One reviewer posted a photo of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush and wrote the review from his point of view. While others left comments like “not waterproof”, “works great in a submarine” and some such jokes.
