Trucks with billboards calling for the firing of Harvard President Claudine Gay were seen circling the Massachusetts campus on Sunday, following the resignation of University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill.
According to Fox News, the privately funded trucks read “FIRE GAY” and were accompanied by photos of Gay during his appearance before Congress last week.
Havard President Magill and Massachusetts Institute of Technology President Sally Kornbluth have been criticized for failing to condemn students’ calls for the genocide of Jews.
One truck was seen driving around campus, while another was stationed at the school’s front door blaring Gay’s exchange with New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, in which the Harvard president said calls for genocide only qualify as harassment or intimidation “depending on the context.” “
The unnamed private financier of the signs will also deploy a plane over the campus later this week with a banner that reads: “HARVARD – STOP JEH HATE,” Fox News reports.
“One down, two to go,” the private financier told Fox.
His comments echoed those of Stefanik, who called on Harvard and MIT to “do the right thing” following Magill’s resignation.

He warned that the two schools can now “anticipate a robust and thorough congressional investigation into all facets of the negligent perpetration of anti-Semitism at their institutions, including administration, faculty, funding, and overall leadership and governance.”
The Stop Antisemitism group also wrote“Let’s hope Harvard’s next president, Gay, is next.”

Harvard’s president has also faced internal pressure to resign, and a prominent rabbi at the school resigned from its anti-Semitism committee.

“The Harvard system, along with the ideology that affects too many students and faculty, the ideology that works only along axes of oppression and positions Jews as oppressors and therefore intrinsically evil, is itself evil,” wrote David Wolpe.
He praised Gay as a “kind and thoughtful” person but said his comments in Congress were “painfully inadequate” to address growing anti-Semitism on the Cambridge campus and elsewhere.
In response to the backlash over his testimony, Gay apologized for his comments.

“I’m sorry. Words matter,” Gay said during an interview with the Harvard Crimson on Thursday.
“When words amplify anguish and pain, I don’t know how you can feel anything but regret,” he added.
But while the trucks were circling Sunday, the Harvard Corporation and Board of Overseers met Sunday to discuss Gay’s leadership, reaction to his response to Congress and whether the school should issue a public statement, according to the Harvard Crimson.
