Kanpur man denounces slippers stolen outside temple
It’s an unusual situation because it’s almost unheard of to file a police report on stolen footwear. According to reports, Kantilal Nigam, a resident of the Dabauli region of Kanpur, filed the complaint for the loss of his slippers. He had gone to worship at the famous Bhairav Baba temple in the city. He had forgotten his slippers outside the sanctuary.
When he returned, he discovered that his new slippers were missing, so he searched for them before filing an e-FIR report. The man reportedly had to walk barefoot to his house.
Kantilal Nigam stated in his complaint, “I bought new slippers two days ago. Every Sunday I come to worship Bhairav Baba because Sunday is considered the auspicious day for Bhairav Baba’s darshan. The new slippers were taken from me when I went out of the temple. Later, I filed an e-FIR because I believe that the thief should not be let go.”
The matter is still under investigation
An investigative officer stated that they are reviewing the CCTV footage from the temple cameras. The FIR was filed under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code. They have also requested the invoice for the purchase of the shoes. They are on the lookout for the thief.
A Pune man filed a similar complaint in 2017 over the loss of his slippers. The thieves, according to the complainant, came to loot his house but instead stole his shoes. He filed a complaint so that the defendant would not get away with it.
It should be noted that even if the value of the stolen item is small, it is important to remember that theft is a violation of someone’s property rights and can have negative consequences for the victim.
Reporting a theft, however small, has several purposes. Allows the victim to document the incident, which may be necessary for insurance claims or legal purposes. It also helps law enforcement track theft patterns and apprehend repeat offenders. Additionally, by reporting theft, individuals contribute to the maintenance of a safe and legal society.
It is important to treat robbery seriously and not trivialize it, as it can have a significant impact on the victims involved.
