UPSC Topper 2022: Ishita Kishore secures UPSC AIR 1, says he ‘was confident of success’

After graduation, Ishita joined Ernst & Young, where he worked in the risk advisory department.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the final result of the 2022 Civil Services Exam on Tuesday. The first four top are candidates, including Ishita Kishore who emerged first with AIR 1, Garima Lohia got the second position , Uma Harathi secured third rank, and Smriti Mishra secured fourth position.

The top 25 candidates were made up of 14 women and 11 men with varying educational backgrounds in the humanities, sciences, commerce, engineering, and medical sciences. Candidates who sat for the exams can check their final results at upsc.gov.in.

Ishita Kishore completed his graduation in 2017 from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. She has a degree in Economics. After her graduation, she worked with Ernst & Young in the risk advisory department.

While expressing happiness at his selection, Ishita Kishore said, “I had high hopes for success, but getting No. 1 on the merit list is a pleasant surprise for me.”

Ishita has been a multifaceted artist since school and has been an active sportswoman. She participated in multiple sports, such as basketball, soccer, taekwondo, and others.

UPSC conducts three-stage civil service examinations annually, including preliminary interview, main interview and interview to select officers from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service. India (IPS), among others.

UPSC CSE Pretests were conducted on June 5, 2022 with results announced on June 22. UPSC’s main exam was held from September 16 to 25, with results announced on December 6, while interviews ended on May 18.

Last year, Shruti Sharma secured the top position. He scored 1105 points out of 2025 on his second try.
