US Navy crew members miraculously survive when helicopter crashes in San Diego Bay

All six crew members aboard a US Navy helicopter reportedly miraculously survived a crash in San Diego Bay on Thursday night.

The MH-60R helicopter fell into the water around 6:40 p.m., the Navy commander said. Naval Air Force Pacific Fleet spokesperson Beth Teach confirmed to Fox 5 San Diego.

The helicopter was conducting routine training when it crashed.

“Due to the nature of the training, there was a safety boat on site and, with the assistance of Federal Fire, all six crew members survived and were quickly transported to land,” Teach said.

“All staff are under medical evaluation at this time.”

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
