Vandals take a tractor for a destructive ride at a Bay Area pumpkin patch, causing thousands of damage

What a group of punks.

A group of vandals broke into a California pumpkin patch this week and wreaked havoc, knocking down portable toilets and taking a tractor for a destructive ride, according to the farm manager.

Hooligans caused thousands of dollars in damage during the chaos at Spina Farms Pumpkin Patch in Morgan Hill, a popular annual attraction for local families.

“They knocked down the port-a-potties. They broke multiple scarecrows; They are all custom made. They probably consumed about a dozen pumpkins,” Daniel Estrada, operations manager for Spina Farms, told NBC Bay Area.

Estrada said the robbery occurred around midnight Wednesday. The farm’s security guard noticed something was up after hearing giggling and the sound of a tractor running.

He then confronted at least four people, including one who was driving the tractor.

“The gentleman driving the tractor just shot it. He left, went through our marigolds, went through the fence and took the cow train to Santa Teresa,” Estrada said.

Fortunately, the train got caught in the wire fence, causing it to stop in the middle of the road.

The driver then dropped his phone in front of the security guard, who grabbed it. He threatened her and demanded that she return it to him.

She refused and told them she would call the police.

“They all left when they heard the police were coming,” he said.

Farm employees had to work through the night to ensure that none of the scheduled excursions were cancelled.

Spina Farms shared a photo of the cell phone’s lock screen on its Facebook page, asking the public for clues as to who it belongs to.

The incident is being investigated by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. No arrests have been made.
