A Nevada judge was reportedly attacked by Deobra Redden, 30, a three-time felon.

What happened?

At his sentencing hearing, a man in a Las Vegas courtroom climbed onto the stand and attacked the judge when she denied him parole, as seen in the shocking video.

Judge Mary Kay Holthus sentenced Deobra Redden, 30, a three-time felon, in Clark County District Court following her conviction for attempted violence causing great bodily harm, according to KLAS.

Redden’s attorney requested that Holthus sentence his client to probation around eleven, but Holthus had other plans for the offender.

Video obtained by the site shows Redden suddenly running toward the bench, lunging with his arms open and knocking the judge to the ground.

A Nevada state flag and an American flag crashed into the chaos. In the chaos that preceded, Redden shouted obscenities at Holthus, and the clip showed him fighting with several other people.

While the judge was still on the ground, court officers took him away, but he managed to escape and tried to follow her again, as seen on camera. He even exchanged blows with other participants in the fight.

According to KLAS, an alarm sounded for a few minutes warning people about the situation. Holthus had reportedly suffered a minor head injury but was recovering well. The altercation also caused injuries to a marshal.

Court records indicate that on April 23, Redden threatened to “bust the kneecaps” of another man, “resulting in substantial bodily harm.”

An independent judge had ordered Redden to take a competency exam in May. Records indicate that before being deemed competent in October, he was admitted to a state behavioral center.

In November, Redden pleaded guilty to the charges. After he failed to show up for his court date in December, Judge Holthus issued a warrant for his arrest, according to KLAS.

When this happened?

Following Wednesday’s attack, he is now charged with two more charges: assault and battery on a protected person, in the latter of which the victim is alleged to have suffered “substantial harm.”

He is scheduled to return to court Thursday at 9:00 a.m., preferably handcuffed. He is currently in the Clark County Jail.

According to court records, Redden previously appeared before Holthus on allegations of malicious destruction of property. In 2021, he was jailed for a year after being charged with domestic assault.
