User Karan Mirchandani took to Instagram to share his take on the film and explain why he thinks that ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ was actually a murder mystery. Karan claims that his favorite murder mystery of all time is, in truth, the Yash Raj classic.
According to his theory, the film is packaged as a “high school romance” but is actually an intriguing murder mystery as it ends up remaining unsolved. Karan explains the premise of the movie with a suspicious lens: “There’s a girl who gets eight letters from her mother, who’s mysteriously died and mysteriously written these eight letters, convincing her daughter that her husband needs to get together with his high school lover. “
With that being said, Karan questions the mother’s intentions or the real intentions of the person who supposedly made it look like the little girl’s mother had written the letters to her. According to Karan, Rahul and Anjali were the masterminds behind this whole plan.

Karan explains how the two came from humble backgrounds and met Tina in high school. Tina was rich, which made the two friends realize a master plan. In this supposed plan, Karan wonders if Rahul and Anjali figured that he could marry Tina and then she could mysteriously pass away from her, which leaves Rahul at the receiving end of Tina’s fortune.
After which, to complete their plan, Rahul would get back together with Anjali to enjoy the spoils of their conquest. But the only snag in the plot was that Tina and Rahul ended up having a child. Karan wonders if that was what led the two partners in crime to orchestrate a whole fake romance to get the child on board with their plan.

People on the internet were completely taken by the explanation, and many ran on board to switch up the genre of the film. Others tried to add to the murder mystery and build on conspiracy theories to support Karan’s take.
