A group of women dressed as “zombies” were seen dancing in the streets ahead of Halloween. A video of the flash mob dancing to the music of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” was posted on the Good News Movement’s Instagram page.

Turns out it’s not just for Halloween fun but also for a worthwhile cause.

The mothers who dance annually refer to themselves as “Mombies” and have been doing so since 2016.

Netizens embraced who’s vibe and wrote: “I want to be a mom!”, “How exciting!”, “I would love to do it!” wrote another. “What a beautiful idea!”

Why are they doing this?

Every year, this group of moms or ‘Mombies’ dance to raise donations for breast cancer research.

Terry Davis conceived and produced the Mombies. The Cancer Couch Foundation receives all the money it raises for metastatic breast cancer research.

The Mombies raised almost $170,000 when they started this project in 2016.

At least 50 mothers of all ages have been practicing professionally choreographed dances for upcoming events in preparation for the scary 2023 season.

Internet users praised the entertaining project and the important message it conveyed.

“We are a group of moms who have lost our everyday personalities to become horrible zombies, wandering the streets for a cause bigger than ourselves,” they shared.

“We push ourselves beyond our comfort zone as we dance to raise donations for breast cancer research.”

Mombie’s website further stated, “Each performance is a fusion of fun, community and support, creating lasting memories and meaningful contributions to an important cause.”

“Imagine our neighbors’ shock and our children’s eyes widening when the zombies crept out of the bushes, driveways, and front porch! In our homemade costumes, we were eerily attractive as we broke the trick-or-treat routine and we take control of the street.”

“Unbeknownst to them, something much bigger was taking shape. The Mombie Movement was founded,” he continues.
