Shortly after paramedics arrived, he died at the scene. Following the death about 100 meters away on the Noosa coast, police detained a naked 27-year-old man. He has not been charged in connection with the alleged fatal assault. Detective Inspector Chris Toohey in the Sunshine Coast said the grandfather of nine was “highly respected” by everyone in the community.

“She moved to Noosa several years ago, but has been visiting Noosa for most of her life,” Inspector Toohey said. “He likes golf, he is a member of the local club and has many friends and associates in the community.” He is a well educated man who is well respected by his friends and family. “Before retirement, he worked as a consultant to farmers across Queensland in agriculture.” Mr. Kerr was allegedly assaulted while he was out for a morning walk. “We know there are witnesses who have not come forward, and it is important for the investigation to speak to everyone who was present in and around Noosa Woods (Sunday) morning,” Inspector Toohey said.
Detectives are asking anyone who saw Kerr between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday to contact them if they saw him near Hastings St. or on a route to the beach in Noosa Woods. Kerr’s family has released photos of him in hopes of encouraging other witnesses to come forward. The police are working feverishly to find any clues that will help them solve this crime, and they are begging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and share it.
