Who suffered the burns?
Krysta Carson, 52, a native of Washington state, suffered the ordeal.
What led to your nose falling off?
More than a decade ago, the Seattle resident’s harrowing journey began. Like many people who reach middle age, Carson became increasingly dissatisfied with her appearance, and even experienced the discomfort of being mistaken for her own mother-in-law by strangers.
Despite having received Botox injections for two decades by then, this seasoned performer was still perceived as older than she wanted to appear. Carson lamented, according to Kennedy News“My husband is 10 years younger than me and after coming here with me [in Seattle]In a period of about two weeks, I was mistaken for his mother three times.”
In 2015, Carson opted to pursue filler treatment with an undisclosed surgeon.
When did things go south?
The following year, Carson embarked on her cosmetic journey by undergoing annual injections into her smile lines. Initially she was satisfied with the results. However, everything took a drastic turn on October 12, 2020, when she received an injection that would change her life forever.
Why did his nose suffer such dire consequences?
Upon returning home that day, Carson began experiencing a number of unusual symptoms, including a tingling and numb feeling, as well as slurred speech. Increasingly alarmed by these growing symptoms, Carson contacted the surgeon’s office the next morning.
The surgeon recommended that he come immediately and informed him that a blood vessel had been inadvertently affected. He warned her that the situation would deteriorate before showing signs of improvement.
Despite the doctor’s assurance that he would likely recover within six months and receive ointment at the injection site, Carson’s situation took a turn contrary to the initial diagnosis.
According to reports, on October 31, 2020, while applying the prescribed topical treatment, the lower part of his nostril unexpectedly detached from his upper lip. The mishandled filler injection resulted in vascular occlusion, where the injected substance obstructed the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the skin.
While this condition is usually mild, Carson’s case worsened dramatically. He experienced necrosis, which is similar to the tissue death seen in severe cases of frostbite, due to complications from the procedure.
