‘When you want, you can’: windshield wiper graduates as an engineer

A young man named Luis Gerardo, from Tamaulipas, Mexico, shocked social networks by obtaining his engineering degree.

This achievement is important for the young man, because it was a title with a lot of sacrifice, since he works as a windshield wiper to pay for his education.

Through his Facebook account, Luis Gerardo and the university where they studied shared their story.

Gerardo told of his experience working as a windshield wiper and explained that he did it at gas stations and assured that he would receive insults for his work, but also advice from people who still did not know him.

“I am the happy boy who cleaned windows at a gas station or on a cruise ship, where I received many insults, but also a lot of advice for which I thank people for taking that time with me, even without knowing me,” the young man wrote.

Likewise, I wanted to show that people who work as windshield wipers also seek to improve themselves and that they are not ‘drug addicts’.

“Not all of us who work humbly or on the street are drug addicts or evil living, there are also people who like to get ahead and fight for our dreams,” he expressed.

Finally, the young man wrote that he was grateful to the people who supported him every day to move forward since they served as a motivation to fulfill his dreams and assured that ‘wanting is power.’
