A Canadian journalist was removed from a WestJet flight in Mexico because he was experiencing digestive discomfort and frequent bathroom visits before takeoff.
Joanna Chiu detailed the disturbing incident on
Chui mentioned that she had entrusted her money to her traveling companion, leaving her without funds. She claimed the WestJet supervisor refused to cover her taxi fare to a hotel.
When she began recording their interaction, he threatened to ban her from boarding another flight the next day unless she deleted the video.
The woman, 36, said she later asked to chat with another WestJet staff member who was “considerably nicer” but still refused to give her details of her rescheduled flight.
Nearly two hours after sharing his frustration over WestJet’s uncooperative behavior, he commented: “It’s disheartening that I had to publicly share my experience to receive help.
WestJet sent me a message with my booking reference number after I repeatedly requested it at the airport. I ended up taking a taxi because I was really afraid of getting arrested.” In a later update, she confirmed her safe arrival home. WestJet Airlines apologized to Chiu after the incident, gaining ground on X.
