World-renowned climber makes thrilling 6,600-foot climb over limestone ridge

Footage captured the thrilling moment a world-renowned climber crossed a thin limestone ridge during a daunting 6,624-foot climb up a mountain in eastern Switzerland.

Swiss extreme mountaineer Dani Arnold, 39, crossed the ridge, which was no wider than his shoulders, about two hours into his six-hour hike up Kreuzberg Mountain, SWNS reported.

The video captured the disconcerting moment when the experienced mountaineer climbed the “rare” rock formation with his climbing partner, Michi, 55.

Arnold, dressed in a bright orange hoodie and beanie, can be seen carefully walking over the unusually shaped mountain, at some points hugging taller rocks as he maneuvers his body around the obstacle.

Aerial footage shows the skilled climber soaring up tall, narrow rocks with ease, barely taking a moment to catch his breath before continuing his climb.

At one point during the impressive hike, Arnold extends his arms in the air as he crosses an extraordinarily narrow portion of the uniquely shaped rock.

The three-minute video shows Arnold easily lifting himself up onto another large rock before shouting to his hiking partner below.

After the extraordinary climb, Arnold noticed that what made the experience special was how different the shape of the mountain was from the one he used to climb.

“What is very unique is the large size of this piece of rock. It was amazing to climb,” he told SWNS.

“I enjoyed it very well. You’re so exposed when you’re up there. “Each rock is unique, but it’s nothing very special,” he said, adding that the type of rock formation was “pretty rare.”

The world-famous mountaineer said he chose this particular climb because he had never done anything like it before.

“The climb took me a day including the approach. I chose it because I had never done it before.”

Arnold has broken multiple climbing and mountaineering records and currently holds a world record for speed climbing.

In 2015, he completed the fastest solo ascent of the north face of the legendary Matterhorn, finishing in just under two hours.

He holds two of the three Matterhorn north face records and has broken several other records in Europe.
