At least two people were killed and 18 others were injured after a shooting broke out as hundreds of Halloween revelers were leaving Halloween celebrations in Tampa, Florida, early Sunday.
Two groups began fighting around 3 a.m. when bars and clubs in the Ybor City neighborhood began closing for the night, sending hundreds of Halloween partygoers onto the streets, the police chief said. Tampa, Lee Bercaw.
“Between these two groups, we had hundreds of innocent people involved getting in the way,” Bercaw said, according to WFLA.

The shooting killed two people and sent 18 others to the hospital.
Bercaw did not share the extent of the injuries and it was unclear whether all of those injured were hit by gunfire or wounded in the panic that followed.
Videos of the horrific incident show people in costumes drinking and talking in the street when gunshots were heard, sending the crowd into panic.
About a dozen gunshots were heard, followed a few seconds later by a burst of about eight gunshots.

Videos of what happened showed officers helping costumed victims as they bled on the sidewalk, while others quickly fled the scene.
Police officers were already at the scene when the shooting began and no personnel were injured, Bercaw said.
“We’re asking anyone who has video, and we know there are some because we’ve seen them on social media, anyone who has video of this to let us know,” Bercaw said. “Call our non-emergency line at 813-231-6130.”

At least one person involved in the shooting surrendered to police custody, Bercaw said, adding that at least one other gunman was at large.
“We need to keep those [responsible] responsible,” he said.
It is unclear if the people involved in the fight had been inside any of the neighborhood bars or clubs before the shooting.
