7 Things to Avoid While Doing Laundry – How Many of These Are You Doing?

You can run, you can hide but you can’t escape laundry day. So even if you are someone who loves to do laundry, doing laundry can be quite tiring.

While we’ve been doing our laundry forever, there are still some things we’re doing wrong without even knowing it. We have made a list of 7 things you can avoid while doing laundry. Here it goes!

1. Piling clothes for a single day

Previously, I used to spend my weekends finishing laundry and noticed how anxious I started to get as the weekend progressed. I didn’t just dedicate a personal task to a day where people were literally doing nothing, and to add to that, my stash of clothes wouldn’t end.

How weird right? It honestly isn’t. When asked, about 90 out of 100 people on Quora said they do laundry once a week. Yes, there are many people like me. But how wise is it to accumulate everything for one day?

2. Not cleaning your washing machine

Has it ever happened to you that despite washing your clothes it smells weird? It is probably because your machine is dirty.

When we asked 5 people the importance of washing their washing machine, 4 of them believed that it was not necessary. Well, since the washing machine is self-cleaning, it must be clean at all times, right? No.

3. Using too much or too little detergent

How much detergent is too much detergent? Well, one will never know. Sometimes we tend to use too much or too little and many still don’t know the exact amount.

4. Not disinfecting your clothes

Cleaning your clothes vs disinfecting them are two very different things. While cleaning removes all dirt from the surface, disinfection removes germs from the inside. The World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention have said that viruses spread from person to person through direct and indirect contact with respiratory droplets left on clothing.

Given the situation these days, it is imperative that you keep a sanitizer for your clothes. All you need to do is add 2 capfuls after the detergent to protect your clothes from germs. Ideally, opt for something like the new Dettol Laundry Sanitizer that also keeps your clothes fresh and scented. Do you want to know more about that? Stay tuned!

5. Leaving wet clothes in the machine for a long time

Sometimes we tend to forget about the clothes in the washing machine. Leaving them on for too long is not only unhealthy but also defeats the purpose of washing them.

6. Not sorting clothes

Golden rule: whites cannot be mixed with colored ones. While we’ve heard this enough in our lives, how often do we really follow through? Do you know the right way to avoid colorful mishaps? Stay tuned to find out.

7. Do not turn clothes inside out

When it comes to laundry, most of the dirt happens on the inside. Whether it’s from sweat or dirt coming off your body, the inside of clothing needs just as much cleaning as the outside.
