I just wanted a hug!
A Florida Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to a home after responding to a disconnected call from the residence, only to find an adorable reason for the alert.
When Hillsborough County Deputy Scott Pracht arrived at the Riverview, Florida, home, he learned that the 911 call came from a child who “wanted to give him a hug,” WFLA-TV reported.
Doorbell footage captured the moment Pracht knocked on the front door to respond to what he thought might have been an emergency.
A woman comes from the side of the property and greets Pracht, but is visibly confused as to why he is at the residence.
“This is your house?” Pracht asks the woman, to which she replies yes. “Is everything okay? We received a 911 call.”

The video advances slightly just as the mother opens the door and demands that her son come talk to the officer and bring her his phone.
“To be honest, he doesn’t even know what 911 is,” the mother tells the officer apologetically.

The little boy runs out with a phone and the mother asks, “Did you call the police?”
“Well, I wanted to give him a hug!” The boy answers before sweetly running towards Pracht.
The mother takes the boy’s phone and looks through the cellular device when she discovers that the boy did, indeed, call 911, showing Pracht his call history.

“I know your phone number, it’s 911,” the boy tells Pracht.
Pracht turned the adorable moment into a teaching lesson as he informed the boy about the seriousness of using 911 in emergency situations.
“Yes, but do you know what it’s for?” [911]? It’s if you’re in trouble, if you need help, or if someone you know is around you and they’re in trouble and they need help,” Pracht explained.

“It’s very important that you be careful when you call that number, okay? Only in emergencies and if you are hurt or someone else is hurt, your mother needs help, you know someone is doing something that she is not supposed to do, call us, it’s okay,” adds Pracht.
“It’s okay,” the little boy responds innocently, then apologizes by saying “I’m sorry” after his mother tells him so.
Pracht quickly forgives the boy without hesitation and assures the mother that “he’s fine.”
“Ten-four… the boy just wanted a hug,” Pracht said amusedly into his radio before the video cut off.
