A teenage girl allegedly shot and killed her father and younger brother, then called 911 and told the Nevada operator, “I just couldn’t resist killing someone,” according to court documents.
Mashenka Reid, 17, was arrested Friday afternoon after police found her father and brother, described as a 4- or 5-year-old boy, dead from gunshot wounds in the family’s Reno apartment. , according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
Reid’s younger sister was also home, but survived by hiding inside a locked room, which a police officer had to kick to get her to safety.
The first 911 call about the massacre came from a neighbor who reported gunshots and cries for help.
Reid herself then dialed 911 and allegedly confessed to killing members of her family, according to an affidavit filed in Reno Justice Court seen by the newspaper.
“I shot my dad. I shot my brother. “My brother is dead,” he told the emergency operator, according to the document.
“I just couldn’t resist the urge to kill someone,” he allegedly said.

Reid also said he dropped the suspected murder weapon, a Walther PPS, inside the apartment.
The first agent who arrived at the scene detained the teenager and placed her on the ground, before going to check the well-being of the other family members.
Reid’s brother was found lying on the couch with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the affidavit.

The teen’s father was found in the garage with gunshot wounds to the chest and back. Paramedics pronounced both victims dead at the scene. As of Tuesday, they have not been publicly identified.
There was no information from the authorities about a possible motive for the double homicide.
Reid has been charged as an adult with two counts of open murder and an additional count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon. He is due in court for a bail hearing on Thursday.
