The girls, all 13 years old and eighth graders at a state school, decided to travel to Seoul, the capital of South Korea, to meet their idols.

“They took a firm decision to somehow meet the BTS stars and shortlisted the sea ports of Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to take a ship to South Korea, and finally chose Visakhapatnam,” the official told PTI .

When did they leave the house?

On January 4, the girls secretly left their homes and traveled to Chennai by train from Erode near Karur. When the girls did not return home, their parents lodged a complaint with the Karur police, who notified authorities across the state and launched a search.
