A man donates a check for 100 rupees to the temple in Andhra Pradesh
The bizarre incident took place in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. According to a TOI report, the devotee who visited the temple had only Rs 22 left to his name on his bank account and offered an undated check citing a donation of Rs 100 crore to the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple.
On August 23, while counting Hundi’s collection, the temple authorities were shocked to find a check for Rs 100 crore in the donation box. Finding the incredibly loaded check, authorities contacted the MVP Colony branch of Kotak Bank for verification.
Getting to the bottom of the mysterious check matter, the authorities discovered that the check belonged to Boddepalli Radhakrishna, a man with only Rs 22 left in his account.
Temple authorities were confused when they first encountered the donation
The Simhachalam Temple Deputy Chief Executive Officer (OAS), Ramana Murthy, gave an insight into the incident, revealing, “We noticed that there was no date on the check and there were some corrections. We inquired and learned that the devotee had an account at the Kotak Mahindra Bank branch at MVP Colony.”
After which they found out, “He only had ₹22 in his account. We don’t know the devotee’s psychological state of mind and his concept. We don’t know the devotee.”
It is still unclear why the devotee left such a check payable to the temple. While it seems like something of a joke, the intentions behind the man’s actions are still under wraps.
