Punjab Locals Transform Maruti 800 Into A Monster Truck Replica
In the clip that has taken Instagram by storm, a Maruti 800 is seen skidding down the roads of what is assumed to be Punjab, according to the car’s license plate. However, it was not the car model that surprised people online.
Although seeing a Maruti 800 performing well on the roads of India is in itself amazing, it was the car’s monstrous wheels that shocked the internet. The video showed how some car enthusiasts had modified the Maruti 800 into a replica monster truck.
The changes to the car were significant, even though all they had done to it was change the wheels. The Instagram page featured the car and wrongly mentioned that the Maruti 800 model was an Alto model from the same company. They wrote in the subtitles: “No one can beat Alto’s ability.” and even added text in the video that read, “It’s always Mr. Alto.”

The internet was stunned by the experimental Jugaad
While many were distracted by the car’s wrong model name, some were stunned by the experiment. One user wrote: “The perfect car for any experiment 😂😂😂”. While another noted: “When you realize this is not an Alto but a LORD MARUTI 800. That’s when you realize the person who posted this is less knowledgeable than you. 😂”
One user described the scene and made people laugh: “Aisa lag raha jaise kisi navjaat shishu ko uski maa ka petikot pehna ke market mein utaar Diya ho.”
History of Maruti 800 in India
Almost 40 years ago, the Maruti 800 was introduced in India. At that time, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi handed over the keys to the first sold model of the car to Harpal Singh, who had paid a handsome check for Rs 47,500. The moment became one of the most iconic moments in Indian automotive history.
The 800 was the brainchild of Sanjay Gandhi and a product of Maruti Udyog Limited. It was the first Indian-made car model to have disc brakes, front-wheel drive, floor gear shifters, bucket seats, and a plastic-molded dashboard. The car became a huge hit with the Indian buyer and became an important part of the Indian experience.
