Apple Served Cookies in Plastic Wrap at a Carbon Neutral Event and It Looks Like the Internet Had the Last Laugh

Every time Apple hosts an event, it’s almost like they’re handing out comedy invitations to the entire Internet. With every product launch or announcement, the tech giant inadvertently takes to the virtual stage and internet comedians rush in with ready-made jokes.

It’s become a fun tradition where Apple is the center of attention and the online world gladly provides the laughs.

As predictably as the changing seasons do, each year’s iPhone launch event morphs into a well-intentioned, eco-conscious TED talk, and this year’s assembly was par for the course.

Amid the hype surrounding the introduction of the USB-C cable, Apple managed to add a touch of humor to the mix. The finishing touch?

They served cookies (yes, cookies) individually wrapped in clear plastic at their ‘carbon neutral’ event!

Naturally, this sparked humor across the internet as users continued the tradition of mocking Apple’s outlandish environmental choices, with @NikiasMolina leading the charge by sharing a photo of the plastic-wrapped ‘X’ cookie.

“Apple gave us cookies at the event. They were delicious.” he wrote.

Unaware of the joke that would follow, he posted innocently, setting the stage for Internet users to once again mock Apple’s environmental concerns and its reasons for choosing certain products.

Before long, the comments section was flooded with sarcastic comments and trolls. One user even joked:

Apple Watch Series 9 launched: Exciting new features including Apple

“It is a 100% carbon-neutral biodegradable plastic with 80% similarity to the biodegradability of paper. Apple is on track to increase its biodegradability to a whopping 130% by 2025. That’s a 25% increase in biodegradability of plastic apple cookie wrapper. year after year. Apple will be the first company on the planet to increase the biodegradability of its plastic beyond 100% by the end of next year.”

Another looked into Apple and wrote: “The plastic is made from 100% recycled materials, making it carbon neutral.”

One more user chimed in and wrote: “iCookie: Available for pre-order starting September 22. You missed it in the keynote, folks. But it’s real.”

“Why doesn’t Apple care about nature by giving away plastic-wrapped cookies? Are they just on the iPhone and charger?” wrote another.

So we have to ask ourselves: Did Apple simply serve us a bit of hilarity in their quest for a greener image, or are they simply coming up with new ways to keep us entertained?
