Better than ‘dry January’? A woman’s ‘one week, no alcohol’ trick to get through the year goes viral

After a series of Christmas parties, family gatherings and New Year’s Eve revelries, many of us can’t bear the prospect of drinking in January. But committing to ‘dry January’ is also a scary concept, as you’ll have to skip the pub with your friends, opt for water instead of wine and refrain from partying for four long weeks.

However, one clever woman has come up with a “one week, no alcohol strategy” that you will follow for the next 365 days and, although it is longer, it appears to be easier and simpler than abstaining from alcohol for just a month.

Bridget Stangland from Nashville, Tennessee, posted a video on TikTok describing her alternative to Dry January, which gives people an entire year to work instead of just 31 days.

Since many people abandon the sobriety challenge toward the end of the month or simply return to their habits on February 1, she believes this could be a less complicated strategy that also offers “better results.”

What is this unique concept?

The 31-year-old explained the concept to her followers: “The one-week-without-drinking method involves giving up one week of alcohol each month, and at the end of the year, the result is three months without drinking.”

“For those who want to grow a little more, you can do it for two weeks each month and at the end of the year the result will be six months without drinking,” Bridget said on social media.

“That’s half the year: big, big results. I started this because I realized that as I got older, there were still many occasions where alcohol was involved, and I realized that consuming it all the time wouldn’t help me.” “I enjoy taking breaks because I feel great, I don’t have brain fog, I sleep well and my skin looks better. “So I thought, why not make a minor modification that would have such a big impact?”

How can this method help?

Bridget says her “one week, no alcohol” strategy has helped people sleep better, save money and lose weight. “It’s the best method and I enjoy sharing it.”

“It’s a fun challenge,” he adds.
